Partnership

Michael White Landscape Architecture has formed a partnership with Liz Cameron from Belanjee to assist in implementing best practice ways of connecting, designing and healing Country in project and Indigenous community advancement settings.

The partnership is built upon a mutual concern for Country and how professionals in the built environment have a responsibility to ensure First Nations people’s perspectives, knowledge and aspirations are heard, resulting in outcomes that are embedded in a respectful and authentic representation of Country.

Approach

We approach each project from a place of mutual respect and deep listening. We understand the ongoing legacy of Colonisation on our First Nations peoples and the erosion of trust, cultural practice, and exploitation. We endeavour to work closely with Indigenous communities, Elders and knowledge holders in building relationships that go beyond the project.

We recognise the importance of advancing Indigenous ways of knowing in the design process, and the ongoing benefits successful outcomes can have for communities of all backgrounds and environments.

Our approach is to ensure Indigenous knowledge and input is sort from the very beginnings of a project, through to completion and beyond, resulting in a place of rich cultural appreciation and sense of identity.

Our Commitment

Michael White Landscape Architecture will continue to advance the voices of First Nations peoples and a respect for Country through ongoing education, advocacy and committing to de-colonised design and communication processes. The partnership with Belanjee ensures this commitment will be upheld through the ongoing sharing of knowledge and the delivery of successful project outcomes as sources of inspiration.
