University of Newcastle Building V
As part of the building upgrade works, new entries, outdoor gathering spaces, pedestrian paths and landscaping were incorporated to enhance the overall user experience.
The design by Michael White Landscape Architecture had to carefully consider the protection of the existing trees that were to be retained which was done by using large expanses of porous paving and limiting level changes.
Custom seating walls were designed to pay homage to the dominant use of brick in the campus buildings. The result is a greatly improved public domain that offers free flowing pedestrian movement.
