The existing civic park was selected for a new public water play park in the centre of Kununurra in the East Kimberley region of WA. Temperatures in Kununurra can get extreme and free places to cool off and play are essential in contributing to a healthy lifestyle and quality place to live.

The concept design prepared by Michael White Landscape Architecture for the play space captured the unique elements of the East Kimberley to create a fun place to play and socialise. The materials and colours were inspired by the surrounding rock escarpments. Boab trees were signifying features of the planting palette. The water play components provided a variety of play experiences for all ages.
